The use of gadgets in schools will be prohibited in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, starting from January 1, 2024, students will be prohibited from using phones, smartwatches, and other gadgets. This measure aims to help children focus on their studies, The Guardian reports.
Some students may be allowed to use devices in class only in case of extreme necessity, such as for medical reasons or during computer science lessons.
"Students should be able to concentrate and have the opportunity to learn well. Mobile phones hinder this, as studies have shown. We must protect students from them," said Education Minister Robbert Dijkgraaf.
The new rules for schools' internal regulations will be coordinated with teachers, students, and their parents.
