Myspace is changing to My______ ???

Posted: November 10th, 2010 | Author: Justin Robinson | Filed under: Died now back again, Social Media, Top Areas | Tags: , , | No Comments »

I decided to make a new myspace for the sake of it being a homepage. I haven’t added anyone yet and won’t until I can get all of my info on there to use it as a HUB for everything. IF IT STILL WORKS THE SAME AS BEFORE. . . I figure that MySpace is fed up with everyone moving on from them and they are undergoing a Huge change. If you ask me I think the should go the route of BEING a homepage site opening up the top area for Banner Links for your other social sites. I’m talking Minimal Scrolling and highly customizable. I am curious to see what the new name for the site will be given the blank space after the “My” which once was “MySpace”.

The site has a completely new look but seems a little slow to load… I hope that is HTML5 they are using. I only see one Blatantly Obvious new feature and that is the badges. The first badge is the “Citizen” badge and requires you to fully fill out your profile, pick a theme, create a playlist, add friends, update your status and play a game. It seems like every site these days has points and badges, I know they need incentives but do I feel the need to go after them . . . No. . . not at all. Atleast not me because I have a general homepage hub intention for my new page.

What do you think that the new name will be? (I persnally think that they should go with “MySocialPages” and go the Social Hub Route. If I had the KNOW HOW I would do it myself, I have the ability to come up with feature ideas and a layout but no database coding skills *ahem!* anyone?

Update: Turns out that MySpace doesn’t just feel like doing this … they are doing it in an attempt to not be ousted within the next weeks by News Corp., the company that bought them. MySpace took major losses after they were acquired in 2005 and now and now News Corp is telling them that they better do something to turn their losses around or they are going to be gone. Hey MySpace… Idea… Right up there above this update… just make sure I get a cut. :)

LA Gear Rising From The Ashes?

I had an epiphany or a thought this morning and that was the status of LA Gear. Have you ever had a random thought (similar to this) that brings you back to your child hood? Well, in this case I had a lust or craving to cop me a pair of LA Gear street kicks since sadly I never had the privilege of having a pair of these when I was a youngster in the early 90′s (mom’s was broke, some of you out there know all about that!).

Well, apparently LA gear is making a sneaky comeback out there in the under-world of fashion which is a perfect world for people like us trendaholics. Did you have a pair of LA Gear kicks back in the day? If not, would you cop a pair today?

Hey, even Michael rocked a pair or two!

3D Died Now It’s Back Again

Posted: April 5th, 2010 | Author: Charles West | Filed under: Died now back again | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

It’s weird how 3D far as style, cinema and technology has crept it’s way back into our lives. Movie production companies along with Television makers our collectively making 3D integrated products for us to hopefully start dawning the sometimes ridiculously looking glasses again. But does this trick sound familiar? They say everything goes full circle when it comes to evolution but also when it comes to cultural things like fashion and in this case technology.

If your an 80′s baby and 90′s kid like myself you will remember when the video game companies almost twenty years ago tried to bring 3D into peoples households. Sega Genesis (I had a Sega by the way ;-) ) went all in with creating their own 3D shades that looked like something from Star Trek. Of course people didn’t quite jump on it like they had hoped but technology didn’t as well, in fact TV companies were either non-supportive or just incapable (at the time) to enhance the 3D look.

Died now back again but for how long? Is the 3D wave here to stay or is it just the beginning of another abrupt demise? With TV Companies putting lots of money into this 3D movement even making TV’s with 3D modes make the days of 3D incapable a thing of the past or maybe not.

Just when you thought it died its now back again, remember the Ghostbusters from the late 80′s early 90′s? Well their back in 3D and yes Slimer is back with a cameo. If your a 80′s baby and 90′s kid like myself you will probably check this out (don’t even lie) but sadly this is bringing memories back of two piece (sometimes one piece) pajama suits when I watched these movies back in the days (quick shiver) okay now I’m back :-)

Have fun and enjoy this sneak preview! Share your thoughts

The Ella Sunglasses By Louis Vuitton

I found these dope sunglasses that debut on Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2010 runway show, the Ella Sunglasses features an innovative laser-cut aluminum frame with fluorescent visors. These sunglasses will come in two colors pink and green. No lie these babies bring it way back to the 50′s when it comes to sunglasses but with a modern day twist of course. When I see these I think of a glamorous dame like Grace Kelly (by the way Grace Kelly is dope). Want to stand out by rocking these shades? Well, you can purchase these at Louis Vuitton stores for approx. US$600. Yikes! Props to SP

Women Can Flash Back To Mid-evil Times With Spikes

Posted: February 9th, 2010 | Author: Charles West | Filed under: Died now back again, Fashion | Tags: , | No Comments »

The fashion world never seems to amaze me with styles they either invent or try to bring back but in a modern way to represent the times like our article The Studs Are Back or this spike bag is made by Dafine Balastos according to SP. I must say I don’t know where you can possibly find this and quite frankly I don’t even know if this is in the US yet (if anyone knows happily leave a comment). But I do know if your significant other ever gets her hands on this all I have to say is don’t get her pissed off because the end result won’t be pleasant, if you know what I mean.

Black President, Black First Lady, now black Miss America. All.Black.Everything.
barack_michelle caressa

In a way, black has become a trend, rather the black aesthetic has. Everything from fashion, music, vernacular and mannerisms have been re-appropriated for the masses in a different way for 2010. It means more now, it’s been 50 years since the sit-ins during the Civil Rights Movement but the black culture is becoming something of an easily adopted trend. This worries me. We’ve come too far to be reduced to clothes, sneakers, diamonds and songs that make you drop it low. There is no “new” black, we need to strengthen the culture we already have,  preserve and remember our history better than we’ve been doing.

Caressa Cameron, Miss America 2010

Cameron said her win was a testament to her family’s strength.

“You can be and become anything that you want to be, even Miss America,” she said.

Cut to the first line about the major accomplishments of our people, this is our opportunity to actually implement change! The trend to follow this year is to hustle harder than ever (follow your own “blueprint”) and accomplish things you didn’t think were within your reach.  Shout out to Serena Williams for winning the Australian Open!

Christian Louboutin Rollerball loafers: The Studs Are Back

Posted: January 25th, 2010 | Author: Charles West | Filed under: Died now back again, Fashion, Top Areas | Tags: , , , | 1 Comment »

Do you guys remember when studs were hot? Well, these shoes by Christian Louboutin bring back the studs in a cool and trendy way I must say. Studs are so 80′s so when I first saw these shoes I thought about Judas Priest who made biker gear with studs popular by the way.

These loafers debut in Christian Louboutin’s Fall 2009 collection but is still making a wave around the fashion common folk (like you and I) but with a price tag of $995 at Saks Fifth Avenue it sure isn’t priced for common folk.

But hey, if you want to dress or be like the mega stars Kanye West or Pharell Williams maybe you will be willing to look past the price tag, but one fact you can pretty much bank on is no one else you know will have these loafers and thats for damn sure.
