Pimp geek-style with Xbox 360 and PS3 Controller Rings

Posted: December 8th, 2011 | Author: Charles West | Filed under: Art, For The Gamers | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

Talk about pimpin’ geek-style, the Xbox 360 and PS3 controller rings is the greatest way to express where your loyalties lie. I’ve heard of street cred, but gaming cred — hmm. If you want to get your geek-on, these rings can be purchased from Etsy seller egyptianruin. The XBox 360 version comes in Pink, Blue, Red (as in “Red Ring”), Green and Halo Green. The PS3 version comes in White, Black, Pink, Blue, Red and Green. They are made from polymer clay and are hand-sculpted.

The person who created these mini works of art can be looked at two ways. First, you can look at the person who hand sculpted these things as an amazing artist, or just a person who has way too much time on their hands. Either or it’s still pretty incredible. These bad boys sale separately and will set you back $10(USD) plus shipping. This would probably be the perfect gift for your geek girlfriend. Source

Cuban sculptor Yoan Capote artfully manipulates individuals and objects

Posted: December 5th, 2011 | Author: Charles West | Filed under: Art | No Comments »

Found this pretty interesting artwork from a Cuban sculptor by the name of Yoan Capote. His art is inspired by the interactions between individuals and objects. When I first seen his art not only did I say whoa, it reminded me of some weird movie in my head starring Johnny Depp. Seriously, could you picture anybody else in a movie with weird objects like the pics below in the gallery? That said, Yoan explained his art in a few words,

“…my work has been the result of analyzing objects and their relationship with our body; studying their interface, representation and physical or sensorial possibilities. My working process begins by applying different physical, social and psychological situations to the hard surface of urban materials and standard objects. When we use objects, they are an extension of our body and are connected with all the habits and human needs that define our behavior.” Source

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, think again. Some French artist named Alexandre Nicolas has taken his superhero love to a whole new level, with his creation of superhero fetuses (yes, you heard right). These sculptures were recently exhibited in Paris, and they are probably one of the most weirdest things I have ever seen in my entire life — and this is coming from someone who’s seen some pretty strange things.

A Shrine of Trends: Nike CEO Mark Parker’s Office

If you’re the CEO of one of the most influential cutting edge companies in the world, what would your office look like? Well, for CEO Mark Parker no stone was left unturned with his office — I call a shrine of trends. Parker’s office is far from what you’d envision a corporate office looks like. With inspiration from athletes, artists and designers like Hiroshi Fujiwara, Futura, KAWS, and Marc Newson — Mark Parker shows he is without a doubt a certified trendaholic.

Suitcase Stickers?!

Posted: October 5th, 2010 | Author: Charles West | Filed under: Art, Design | Tags: , | No Comments »

I don’t know why but for some reason I want to buy a suitcase now, just so I can buy these stickers and see the reactions on people’s faces. These stickers could make the most boring suitcase stick out instantly. They come in a colorful variety of very sticky styles, like smuggled cocaine, cash & even a bound and gagged hostage. Now, you would have to be completely OUT OF YOUR MIND to bring this to an airport, so don’t even entertain the idea.  You can buy these stickers at thecheeky.com

[media-credit name="" align="alignright" width="150"][/media-credit]

If you believe in dope art than you’ll appreciate these throw pillow covers decorated with geeky illustrations of electronic components and computer stuff. The fact that you can have a simple looking set up in your apartment throw these pillows in and POOF like magic you’ve trended your place out is well… awesome. The good news is the pillows are available in a ‘Duo’ range, which is a set of two pillows which designs complete each other when placed together and for Apple techies all designs are also available as iPad sleeves.

The even better news is you can actually buy these, if you have the urge you can buy it here!

This is definitely something I would experiment with but that’s just me but what about you? Would you let your bed or couch rock these?

NYC Artist Morphs Hummer H2 Into A “Hoover Cart”

Posted: April 21st, 2010 | Author: Charles West | Filed under: Art, Design, Funny-ish | Tags: , , | 3 Comments »

For those of you who subscribe to a more greener living this should put a pretty big cool-aid smile on your face to see such a gas guzzling SUV gutted out, re-arranged and welded together into a horse carriage. The New York artist behind all of this goes by the name Jeremy Dean. This project of his was inspired by the Great Depression, at a time when people could no longer afford gas for their vehicles and hitched them to horses, creating “Hoover Carts.”

I think his reason or inspiration behind creating such a project is dope in itself because it has a historical meaning to it that can educate. Don’t get me wrong it’s cool when artists come up with innovative designs or art but to me if the cause behind it is meaningless or inept it loses it’s luster.

Enjoy a couple of pics of the original Hoover Carts :-)

Just think this guy said on the Dylan Ratigan Show his next project is going to be a Cadillac Escalade! That should be a real treat and I can’t wait to see it, so stay tuned.
