Data problems reported by Lumia 900 users

Yesterday excited Windows Phone fans in the states finally got to get their hands on the much hyped Nokia Lumia 900 from AT&T. Unfortunately, the joy for many folks out there is short lived, as some Lumia 900s are experiencing some issues.

Many users are reporting data connection problems with their Lumia 900 smartphones that prevent them from accessing 2G, 3G, or 4G LTE data signal on the phone. The problem occurs when the device is either powered off, restarted, or placed in Airplane Mode. Apparently, the issue comes from the way the IMEI (a unique serial number) of the phone is registered to AT&T’s network. This has caused AT&T to pull the phones with the affected IMEI’s from store shelves, however, a few of these handsets are finding their way into the hands of unknowing users.

AT&T and Nokia will surely work around the clock to get this matter under control, because a lot is at stake here. AT&T for weeks has been building this phone up to be its best phone launch ever, so news like this only jeopardizes such a lofty prediction. The second largest cell phone provider in the United States is trying to find its new flagship device, as it adapts to life after iPhone exclusivity.
