NEXUS ONE can also record in 720p thanks to hack

Thanks to the awesome people over at XDA if you’re running 2.1 (Eclair) OS on your Nexus One you can now download a hack that will allow you to video record in 720p!– In your face iPhone4 but no seriously, this is the ultimate power of what I try to explain to my common folk friends (unknowing of geek language) why Android is the operating system that’s ultimately better for them if they are interested in smart-phones.
If you want power over what you can or cannot do with your smart phone OS Android is the choice for you, period. Honestly this is a big testament to why open source is a big deal by letting a community of developers or average Jo’s find out hidden capabilities that can be exploited to creative innovation like this news here.
Before you download know this
The update is only compatible with CyanogenMod 5.0.8 Test 3 (and – presumably – any ROM based off of it) but that’s a pretty small price to pay considering what you’d be getting (Cyanogen’s also planning to add the hack pre-baked into his ROM from here on out).
If you’re running the rooted Froyo FRF50 like myself then unfortunately you will have to give that up to get this hack, but if you’re patient you’re probably better off just waiting for the Froyo hack that’s what I’m going to do.
