Is The HP Slate A Real Threat To The iPad?

HP is getting ready to unleash an impressive tablet entitled “Slate”, to all of us technology geeks and gadget obsessed this should be a good treat. This Slate from what I have read is supposed to be more related to a notebook verses a hybrid smart phone slash notebook like the iPad. When I posted months ago my concerns about the iPad on why I may not purchase one it was because of what wasn’t included in the iPad.
A few Specs for the HP Slate includes:
- Integrated webcam
- SD slot
- iTunes-touch
- Ability to hook the tablet itself up and project it onto an HDTV via a dock
Also the Slate has a custom OS with a slick touch UI, now for the record I am a huge Apple fan and in fact own a MacBook (I actually need a new one) but I must give credit where credit is due. I just mentioned three out of the four features the HP Slate does that this first version iPad can’t do. I must say if you’re more favorable toward notebook like products (like myself) the Slate will soothe your needs a little more than getting this first version iPad but if you’re gadget friendly this won’t matter.
