While seemingly every tech site or trend site chooses to focus on the major location based patent that Google landed today I chose to cover something more substantive like Google Health. Technology is so cool sometimes that we lose the fact of how technology can help in our everyday lives. In an effort to help the importance of prescription information, Google announced today that it would integrate Surescripts, an electronic prescribing network, into its Google Health product.
This is cool because it will make things much easier when it comes to the integration of the system overall it will “help accelerate the availability of prescription drug history to our users,” Spector wrote.
While Google is trying to make it possible for more people to access their medication history, it gets you thinking why did it take President Obama with his included incentives for doctors to adopt electronic health records (EHRs) in the the American Recovery and Re-Investment Act of 2009 (AARA) to get the wheels in motion, frankly this should have happened a lot sooner?
