UffieKe$ha

The new phenomenon that is Ke$ha, with “Tik Tok” blowing up the charts made me think of another white female rapper from the UK, Uffie (pronounced Uf-Fee). I’m not saying that one is copying the other but their rap styles are too similar for that to not be the case. If you’re familiar with the electro duo, Justice ( D.A.N.C.E.) they collaborated with Uffie on the party banger, The Party. Personally I think Uffie does it better but Ke$ha has more muscle behind her music hence her single being everywhere. Uffie, on the other hand, didn’t hit it big in the U.S. and is obscure to most Americans save for a few. Uffie’s UK presence is significant and more likable than Lady Sovereign (no comment). In a music industry where a lot of artists are the same or are carving out the same niche, we do have the choice to decide who’s doing a better job. After all, Uffie was first.

LA weekly pits them against each other and they are quite obviously Team Uffie.

Who will you choose?

white girl hipster rap is on the move!
