Japanese researchers have learned how to grow new teeth in humans

Japanese researchers have developed a groundbreaking medication that enables individuals to grow new teeth. It is specifically designed for those who have an incomplete set of adult teeth due to congenital factors.

"The idea of growing new teeth has been a dream for every dentist. I worked on this when I was a graduate student. I was confident that I could make it happen," said researcher Katsu Takahashi.

Animals, including sharks and certain reptile species, have the ability to constantly regrow their teeth. Scientists hypothesized that humans might possess a similar capability.

They conducted experiments on rodents, during which the medication successfully stimulated the growth of "third-generation" teeth, following the milk teeth and subsequently the permanent adult teeth.

Currently, efforts are underway to prepare the medication for human use. In the future, it will primarily be directed towards treating children with anodontia.
